Recently my coach and nutrionist posted on Instagram about a new company making protein bars. They had sent her a sample pack and she was very impressed by their macros and the taste.
She decided to team up with Built Bar and they ran an offer to the first 1000 followers of Gaugegirl Training who placed an order for their 6 bar sample pack would get it for free. I snagged a sample pack and just received it over the weekend.
It was a hard call but I decided to try the Lemon Chocolate Creme bar first. While this is not a Keto-specific product their macros and ingredients make it very Keto friendly. There are a total of 110 calories per bar, 4 grams of fat, 13 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fiber, and 2 grams of erythritol which makes 7 net carbs and 11 grams of protein. Depending on your carb level 7 can be a lot to use up on one item. But for this first time I decided to eat the whole bar. I wanted to really taste it in one shot and decide what I thought, also I was really hungry because I had already lifted.
I really like that these protein bars are covered in chocolate because who doesn’t love chocolate. The chocolate is a dark chocolate and is smooth and creamy. The inside of the bar is hard to describe exactly but it is a softer marshmallow-nougat like texture, which in this bar is where the lemon flavor was. I really liked the flavor, it reminded me of lemon meringue.
The bar did not have any weird aftertaste. It was sweet and creamy but not sickly sweet. It did not give me any sugar cravings. I can tell that these would get somewhat melty if left on the counter so I stored mine in the fridge.
